The default submodule path assumes that kvm-kmod is still hosted on
kernel.org. I will fix this.
Meanwhile you need to set
[submodule "linux"]
url = http://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/virt/kvm/kvm.git
in .git/config of your kvm-kmod clone.
