I already have xserver-xorg-dev installed (2:1.3.0.0.dfsg-12ub) :-(
Any other ideas?

Now I have many X libraries installed, and the error message is a bit
vague as to what it can't find.
I did find this in the config.log file:
"conftest.c:40:27: error: X11/Intrinsic.h: No such file or directory"
Install libxt-dev
