This is a new thread as I haven't got Christoph's response to my
previous message in a usable form to reply to (because of being
subscribed only to the digest - I have now corrected this)

OpenSuSE seems to use unsermake whatever I do, unless I un-install it or
(as I did) temporarily re-name the binary. Forcing GNU make instead it
now builds OK & I now have "0.9.0+SVN(May 27 2008 1745)" built and
installed. Many thanks for the pointer. May I suggest upping the warning
 "*** YOU'RE USING UNSERMAKE. *** GOOD LUCK!! " to "*** YOU'RE USING
UNSERMAKE. This probably WILL NOT WORK - use GNU make instead" ?

However, using kvpnc and trying to connect to my office (where there is
a DG834 router) fails. This connection sort of works, very slowly, with
the other OS.

x.x.x.x is WAN address of the DG834
192.168.0.0 / 24 is office LAN

y.y.y.y is my home IP address
192.168.23.0 / 24 is home LAN
192.168.23.253 is this machine

Any suggestions / pointers to set-up guides will be very welcome!
