I'd be VERY surprised if it weren't an alarm panel modem as someone else has
already stated....FWIW, I ALWAYS connect these stupid things to the last
line, not the first. This goes for satellite receivers as well. That way,
when a storm blows them up (and one WILL blow them up)...the customer only
loses their LAST line!
