Mike,

That is a good test, because it should work if all the settings are correct
(you have to find that class of service setting that allows forwarding off
premise, or co to co, or whatever it's called)  And there may be other
settings needed in the TD500 that us little guys may not be aware of.

Also, the reason we prefer using a single line analog port is that you can
unplug the phone and the calls will still forward. I'm not sure they will do
that if you forward a digital phone.
