It's a function of money and features. I still, sometimes, call myself a Comdial dealer. I still deal in Mitel and I can go into the secondary market and get just about anything. An 8x30 system in TD isn't bad. An 8x30 in used Comdial Impact isn't ugly, but you will pay more for phones and VM. If you need the VM flexibility, I'd recommend Comdial. If you want the ability to add single line devices, and most customers do, I'd recommend Panasonic. Pricing wise, if you want all Display phones, Comdial phones are about 10% more. They used to GIVE the KSU's away. Now, it's a bit of a tossup. Keep in mind that future growth is/used to be a problem with Pana that isn't a problem in Comdial. I've found that most customer don't want to mix and match phones or systems. They buy what they're used to and generally all phones must look and function the same. They don't want to "save some money" by going from a multi-line to a single line set with access codes. They don't want to move from a key system to a PBX. And most of them want square systems. The Avaya Magix digital is a pretty nice and easy system with larger growth potential. I'm not a primary dealer so I can't tell you much about pricing. It has reasonalbe enough features. Same with Nortel ICS. In 20+ years of being in business, I've learned that you can't win all bids and there's a time to walk away. Sometimes you're the shill for a manager who wants 3 bids, sometimes you just don't have the sizzle product, and a lot of times his mind is already made up (see RFP's in school systems). If they ask for a feature you don't have, you figure out which system does and now you know who you're losing the bid to. It happens all the time. Now if Panasonic would get a decent TAPI interface......
