Hi,
For info. I finally managed to work out how to get the BT Airway to ring reliably on a KX-TD1232 extension.
I had wired the KX-TD1232 extension to the BT Airway. They were both placed next to each other so the cables could be easily wired between the two. Dialling out from the BT Airway worked fine, but I could not get the Airway to ring. Finally after checking the technical spec of the line interface chips on the BT Airway, an Si3014/ Si3021 pair, and going through the specs in detail, I resolved it.
I had not fitted a series 470k resistor that can be found in many PBX sockets. Once added in series it all worked perfectly. Oops ! I hope that this helps avoid anybody else getting stuck making that simple mistake.
One final bit of info - although it is not a perfect fit - if you take an HE14, 6 way socket, [in the UK that is RS part no 532-361] and cut off one of the two alignment lugs [very easily done] these fit the DDK sockets, and if you dont mind crimping the cable on, the sockets only one tenth of the cost of the DDK sockets for a 2 wire connection, and one quarter for a six wire connection.
Thanks for your help.
Yours, -- Graham Barnett
