Caller ID needs to have a certain level at the demarc for the TD switch to
detect it.

Some of the less expensive caller ID units seem to have more sensitivity
that the TD box.

How did the phone company test it? Just listening with a buttset for the
data burst is NOT good enough. Insist that they test it with a Dynatel or
equivalent.

I had one job where the cheap answering machine caller ID worked flawlessly
but the TD was very intermittant. I hooked up my Dynatel 965 and did a quick
caller ID test, screen said "Test Failed".

When I reported to the LEC the results of my test, and explained what test
equipment I was using, they FINALLY discovered a left in bridge lifter at
the CO...after they removed it, all was well.

Good luck!

Jim
