It's called Preferred Outing Line

You want it to select "idle" line.

Press [program] 99
then 1
then 2
then [store]
then press [program] again.

do this on every phone and your prayers will be answered.

That is, it probably will not start with the 1st co. It looks at the co's in 
groups and usually starts with the highest numbered co in the lowest 
numbered group.
i.e. if all your co's are in different trunk groups (co 1 in group 1, co 2 
in group2...) then it will start with co1. but since you have 12 co's, and 
there are only 8 trunk groups, it's a good chance that you have co's in just 
one or two groups.
I usually like it that way, so incoming calls will start with co1 and work 
upwards, but outgoing calls will start with a higher number and work down.
There is a way to try to change that order but most people are happy with it 
this way.

(to change it back to intercom,  follow the above steps but substitute the 
[intercom] button for the number "2" in the procedure.)
