I have Packet8 and my customers have both Vonage and the local cable company's broadband. You still get bad connections on occasion, but for the most part it works fine. The Vonage account has 4 voice and 2 fax lines on a TD-1232, now a TDA-200, on a Motorola 5 point something wireless at a variable rate of 300 to 5000 K data rate. I think the broadband is set for g729. The cable broadband, which they work magically, is better than the VOIP lines. Tons better.
