I posted some messages about my investigations about the charger
circuitry to the group more than one year ago.

You can use 12V marine deep-cycle batteries (120 A Hr) to power the
switch. I think that I calculated 24 hours of run on a fully loaded
swithc from one set of two. The charger only trickle charges the
batteries. After the batteries discharge, you will want to use
something else to charge them.

I believe that you will want to set something up that allows
disconnecting batteries so that you can connect them to an external
charger. I started to set this up for the one system that I manage,
and then the system owner (my spouse) lost interest. I had purchased
heavy duty connectors and was going to connect them to the batteries
through 50 A fuses on both sides so that I could rapidly remove them
and charge them, but I still would be protected ffom accidental
shorts.

In your case you might want two sets of connectors to the phone with
diodes isolating the batteries so you could swap batteries out.

Best regards,
Paul H. Gusciora

Subject: KX-T: Extended Battery Back up for Kx-td1232

I live in an area with earthquakes and winter storms. When the power goes
out, it is usually out for 8 - 48 hours, which is longer than the normal
battery back-up lasts on the telephone switch. I would like to have a
battery back-up that would last 1-4 days for my kx-td1232.

I currently have the regular battery back-up system with it's two little
lead/acid batteries and the charger/controller box that plugs into the
switch. Are there any plans, information, specification, or wiring diagrams
that would allow the use of larger gell cells or Optima batteries? I would
not want to put large batteries on the little charger build for the switch.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Brent.
