There are many more mailboxes than extensions bruce ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brian Martin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "brucek" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2008 7:14 PM Subject: RE: KX-T: A question about Dial by Name and mailboxes
Set all mailboxes ext to match their actual extensions and then have everyone use the follow me command when they roam. Predecessor to walking extensions in the tda/tde's i believe -----Original Message----- From: brucek <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, September 09, 2008 3:04 PM To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: KX-T: A question about Dial by Name and mailboxes I have a customer with a TD1232-3 + TVS100 They have about 12 exts that are shared by many people, with no one assigned to any particular ext. They have about 25 mailboxes that the employees use, soon to increase. They now want to add a dial by name option. Well, I discovered that you cant use Dial by Name unless there is an ext number entered in the mailbox. I was thinking of giving each mailbox an ext number the same as the mailbox number (what I usually do when each ext actually has its own mailbox,) and setting the mailboxes for all calls to transfer to the mailbox. Most of the mailbox numbers don't correspond to an actually ext number, but some do. So far this seems to work, but I am wondering if there are any gotch-ya's I'm missing. Also, if I re-record prompt 296 "extension (extension number)" to be "Mailbox", is that used anywhere else? There is also a prompt # 349 that is "extension (extension number)" but I don't believe that is the one that plays when using dial-by-name.
