As Carl said, the main thing is being able to use that extra line. Some of
my customers keep their main lines in one trunk group so outgoing calls only
use the fax line when the main lines are busy. There are a couple of other
uses too.
If you get a stray fax coming in on another voice line, you can transfer it
to the fax machine ext to see who's sending it.
If you're using fax detection (from the voicemail or disa card) then you can
have faxes come in on rollover lines and have more than one machine on
multiple extensions to handle them.
