I don't know if this is the problem or not but...
See if your prompt mode for the system is set to SYSTEM or USER 1.
The "system" prompts are the defaults and cannot be changed. Switch to
"user1" and they initially are the same as the system prompts with the
difference being that you can change them.

I don't recall ever having to alter that, I thought you could just go right
in and delete them.
Someone else may have a better answer.
