Charles

sounds like a bad 102 or 204 card -

I might be mistaken but I think that most of the DSP circuitry which I
believe is responsible for converting the data on the harddrive back into
audio is located on these cards - the beep you hear to leave a message, I
believe is generated with circuitry on the mother board and is not a data
stream coming off of the harddrive which would have to be converted to an
audio sound . this would explain why the beep is the only sound you hear.

if you have more than one card - does it happen on all ports or is it
mal-functioning on just one of the cards??

it does sound like all of the data is on the harddrive and that the
harddrive is functioning correctly.

good luck - Joel weiser
