I recently installesd a KX-TA308 on board a 74' motor yacht.

CO1 is for connection to the land telephone system when the vessel is in harbour, CO2
is connected to a Telular SX4e GSM FWT and CO3 is hooked up to a KVH Tracphone Mini M
satellite system.

Extensions 1,2 and 3 have Panasonic KXTCD700 phones, extension 6 is hooked up to an
Olivetti fax machine, and extension 5 is connected to a PC modem via COM1.

The whole system worked fine until last week, when the owner of the boat called to say
that extensions 2 and 3 were completely dead, extension 1 had an 'engaged' tone and
fax reception was very erratic, though fax transmission was OK.

Attempting to log on with the PC on extension 5 caused extension 1 to ring.

There has been some work done on the boat recently, so I am aware of the possibility
of shorting existing cables, or perhaps even water ingress via the shore telephone
connection.

I will probably have to go the south of France to sort it out, but was wondering if
there might be any other reason for this failure?
The 220V AC supply is good, as is the 12V DC backup.

Any thoughts would be welcome-I would like to undertake my trip prepared for any
eventuality!

Thanks in advance

Mike Guezo
