The noise when you push the button is the beep tone?
If that is repeating over and over again I might expect bad wiring. If you
have an extra pair going to the door you could try swapping (if you haven't
tried it already). A staple going through the cable might be causing an
intermittent problem.
It seems odd though that it also happens when you call out to the door, I
would expect it to hangup if it was shorting out.
You might be able to isolate the problem if you swapped the doorbox 1 and
doorbox 2 connections at the ksu. Then reprogram the ksu so that 1 rings
where 2 used to and 2 rings where 1 did (assuming they are different ringing
assignments- otherwise it's even easier). Leave the doorboxes in place.
If the problem was on doorbox 1 and now appears to happen on doorbox 2 then
the problem must be in the wiring. If the problem remains on doorbox 1, then
it is in the ksu.
