Probably it worked with only integers when the help text was written. Microsoft Excel help pages may be misleading, too, because they describe Excel, not LibreOffice. The best it to make some experiments and read the ODF specs. It seems that LibreOffice accepts real powers but not complex powers. I fixed the help text accordingly in master.
