Cool! but from a personal point of view I'd prefer not having to use radius if I can. I find it to be yet another layer of complexity, just to do VPN.

After some testing I finally got it working. With this combination it is possible to assign dynamic ips as well as static ips for customers. The ingredients for this are: freeswan + x509 patch + rp-l2tpd with initial roadwarrior support + ppp-radius plugin from cvs + freeradius with its experimental module rlm_ippool for managing ipools I have set it up in a test environment with not more than 3 parallel roadwarrior connections and it seems to work without problems.
