I'd like to recommend two short plays that I saw this past Sunday, "The Cart" and "Dirty Laundry," co-written by Jane Hallaren and the Homeless Writers Coalition. "The Cart" is the story of Margaret Mitchell, the homeless woman who was shot and killed by the LAPD for no apparent reason other than she was homeless and had a shopping cart. "Dirty Laundry" takes place in a laundromat where an assortment of homeless folks hang out. It is raw, sad and funny. Some of the homeless writers perform their work in the play. These are two very original pieces that are as informative as they are entertaining. Please bring a friend and come support Jane and the homeless writers who have put in a lot of effort.
