Irvine - Pissed off at the "censorware" on school PCs that block access to sites you want to visit? Well, one Orange County teenager did something about it. A self-described "geek, activist and progressive humanist," Danny Silverman designed a way around the software, causing him to be banned from school PCs the rest of the school year. On the KUCI public affairs program, we chat with Silverman about why and what he did, and why he is standing up against school and web censorship. He'll be interviewed by show host Dan Tsang this afternoon on Subversity, broadcasting on KUCI, 88.9 fm in Orange County, California, from 5-6 p.m. west coast time and web-cast via kuci.org. Silverman, an honors student who was head of his school's computer club, and a founder of the school's Amnesty International chapter, took a summer class at UCI last year on Internet, Business and the Law (Political Science 179). He heads for Brandeis University this fall where he expects to minor in Internet Studies.
