In exactly six weeks the Center for Theatre of the Oppressed and Applied Theatre Arts, Los Angeles will be hosting Augusto Boal, his son Julian Boal, and other speakers and presenters at the 11th Annual Pedagogy and Theatre of the Oppressed Conference at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel.
Boal's work has been to develop methods of using theatre to promote social and legislative change. Some of the scheduled events: May 25-27 Legislative Theatre workshop with Boal May 28 Intro to Theatre of the Oppressed Workshop with Boal May 29-31 CONFERENCE With great speakers including: Amy Goodman (Host, "Democracy Now") on the 29th Robert Greenwald (Documentary films: "Uncovered," "Outfoxed") on the 30th Moacir Gadotti (Chair of Paulo Freire Institute, Sao Paulo, Brazil) on the 31st & Luis Alfaro (Actor/Writer/Director of New Play Development CTG, playwright of "Electricidad" now at the Mark Taper Forum) on the 31st There will be over 80 workshops, presentations, panels and events over three days presented by people from all over the world on the theme: "Creative Tools for Critical Times: Amnesia, Witness, Intervention".
