The Times is moving to the right with big steps, and there's now an editorial void that the Los Angeles Newspaper Group (LANG) can fill.
If you feel you can help, please circulate among progressive groups based in L.A. and the Valleys. LANG's 17.5 million readers receive their news from a number of local sources including not just the Daily News, but also the Long Beach Press-Telegram, the Pasadena Star-News, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin and the San Bernardino Sun. If you live within one of these coverage areas, please consider joining us by contacting the editors of your home paper. Addresses and a sample email are below. In a sizable campaign, it's safe to assume individual messages may not be read, so make it clear at a glance what you are advocating. The email itself should be polite and respectful, since we want the Daily News to go along with our request, not criticize them for having a right-wing bias. Do also include your full name and the part of Los Angeles you live in, so they understand you are a potential reader. If you are already a Daily News subscriber, say so, and if not, let them know that you will consider subscribing if they hire Scheer. This is one of the most progressive cities in the country, and if the Times will not represent this voice, the Daily News can fill that void.
