You must help yourself. = presented by Sphinx

Capitalism now spreads itself across the globe in its neo-liberal form,
effecting particular changes in the forms of economy and the
workplace. Landscapes are transformed into belts for the seamless
extraction of surplus value.

Using his experience in Osaka, Japan as a wage worker in many
different workplaces, as well as a union member, sphinx argues that
the antagonisms inherent to capitalism in Japan are managed using
containment strategies specific to the concept of 'risk management',
including the self-management of exploitation, and that a human
community after capitalism is realizable through the ruptures that
appear daily with capital's reproduction. http://asayake.blogspot.com/

'2 Seconds' + Selected Shorts presented by cicles.org

A nice French Canadian flick, with a good even pace and good ol'
foreign film qualities, like good acting. It requires reading
subtitles, unless you speak a da french. It's got it all, biking,
bisexuality (the cute lead), bad ass messengers in tight ripped jean
cut offs, evil doer fat slob in car, cranky ol' mentor, more bikes,
street riding, road riding (sorry no fixed) and best of all, most of
you haven't seen it.

Will Laurie find acceptance with the rowdy bike messenger crowd? Will
she find love? Will she and Lorenzo be able to tolerate each other?
Will the fat slob in the car kill Laurie? Will she ever ride again?
...And what is the meaning of life? These are some of the poignant
issues that are brought up in this dramedy of a quirky bi-gal out on
the mean streets of Montreal. A must see for anyone who wants to read
subtitles and see partial nudity.

"The Magic of Commonplace Things" by Edith Abeyta

Los Angeles based multimedia artist who makes work out of the
detritus of consumer culture. By combining trash she's gleaned off
the streets of downtown Los Angeles into sculpture, quilts and
extensive, community base collaboration, she exposes the ugly side of
abundance in the beautiful objects she makes.
