Everyone Welcome-Bring your drums Sponsored by: Alianza Indigena-Indigenous Peoples' Alliance The Peace & Freedom Party of Orange County (The Orange Circle is located at Chapman Ave and Glassell St, Orange ,CA) Thirty years ago, marks a day that would forever change the lives of many.....Leonard was illegally extradited from Canada- June 26, 1975....Many individuals and warriors protected the rights and freedom of our people at Wounded Knee, a time in which they or we will never forget. We still have one warrior that continues to pay the ultimate sacrifice of being a political prisoner, our brother Leonard Peltier. It is incredible that 30 years have gone by and Leonard still sits as a prisoner. He must become a free man again; this injustice has to come to an end. Leonard Peltier, the long-imprisoned American Indian Movement activist, sent out a recent message to supporters: "We are all geared up to file more appeals on new information my legal team has found while reviewing withheld documents. I want you to know that we will continue to fight for my freedom."In addition to the lift provided by newly released documents that may ultimately exonerate him, Peltier's optimism was also fueled by his defense team's plans to challenge the legality of his trial under the provisions of the Indian Crimes Act. The case has more than just historical interest, given the persistence of U.S. government racism and neglect toward Indian peoples and the disproportionately high rates of imprisonment of Indian youth in South Dakota and elsewhere. President Bill Clinton had agreeded to release Leonard from Federal Prison but due to allaged threats from the FBI, he instead pardoned a crony drug smuggler. Leonard remains in Federal prison. An innocent man.
