Dear Friend: Religious freedom is a cornerstone of our democracy. Even though each American's right to practice his or her religion is among our most fundamental freedoms, this right faces grave challenges today. Beginning this week on Court TV, The ACLU Freedom Files shows how questions of religious freedom and religious liberty affect thousands of Americans across the United States, which is home to 1,500 different faiths. By telling the stories in The Freedom Files -- now showing on Court TV for the first time ever -- we can help people understand religious freedom in a more vivid way than any civics lessons ever could. The ACLU created this ground-breaking series in partnership with filmmaker Robert Greenwald, in order to engage a broad cross-section of the country in its ongoing work protecting the freedoms enshrined in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
