Tuesday, April 11th, 2006 at 7:00 PM Understanding Islam Islam which is closer to Judaism and Christianity than Judaism and Christianity are in relation to each other has been misunderstood and misrepresented, especially by many nations and individuals professing to being Muslims representing Islam. Our guest speaker, a member of the Tuesday Night Forum, Abolghassem Sadegh, a resident of Reseda, was a member of Ayatollah Komeini's "Welcoming Committee" in 1979 and held high Iranian government positions including Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Islamic Guidance during Prime Minister Mahdi Bazargan's Administration but was jailed in 1983 when he mailed a letter that criticized the President. He was accepted by the office of the UN's High Commissioner for Refugees as a political refugee and lived in Holland for five years before coming to the US. The session will begin with a two hour PBS Home Video entitled Islam: Empire of Faith, narrated by the Academy Award winning actor Ben Kingsley. Please note that we will start early.
