Angeles - i.e the L.A. Port Truckers. Miguel Lopez is also Nativo Lopez's
brother.
Is the Los Angeles Teamsters Port Division calling for all port

to work on MAY DAY - 2006? Answer: NO - the Teamsters Port Division
refuses to support the General Strike called for on MAY DAY - 2006 by

The Teamsters Union through Miguel Lopez refuses to call for the port
truckers to support the May Day Boycott and General Strike by refusing to go
to work on May Day - 2006. Why is that?
Are we asking that the May Day Boycott "General Strike" be symbolic only
and not a real Boycott or a real General Strike? Or are we really asking
that people actually not go to work on that day? If we are actually asking
the people not go to work on MAY DAY - 2006 then should we not try to get
endorsements from groups like the Los Angeles Teamsters Union Port Division?
And if we want that endorsement from the Teamsters Union Port Division
should we not approach the head of the Los Angeles Teamsters Union Port
Division - that is Miguel Lopez? himself? Hey maybe Nativo Lopez could ask
his brother about that. And since Miguel Lopez was at the Coalition Against
HR4437 organizing meeting
Wednesday at La Placita it would have been very easy for any and all to ask
Miguel Lopez about trying to get the Teamsters Union Port Division to
endorse the May Day General Strike and to endorse having Los Angeles Port
Truckers not going to work on MAY DAY - 2006. Has Miguel Lopez, himself
taken a public position on asking the Los Angeles Port Truckers not to go to
work on MAY DAY - 2006? If not then why not?
So what is going on with the Teamsters Union Port Division and with
Miguel Lopez's position on asking that Los Angeles Port Truckers not go to
work on MAY DAY - 2006?
Inquiring minds want to know.

LATINOS DECLARE GENERAL STRIKE FOR MAY 1
AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE - US Hispanic groups, buoyed by massive weekend
protests against a proposed immigration crackdown, are planning a major
boycott of American life dubbed a "day without Latinos," leaders said on
Tuesday. Organizers of the planned May 1 "A day without Latinos or a day
without immigrants" boycott will ask immigrants to put down tools, leave
their places of work and classrooms, shut their business and take to the
streets en masse to protest a bill that would criminalize illegal
immigration.
Nativo Lopez, president of the Mexican American Political Association, one
of the organizers of a massive protest in Los Angeles that saw at least
500,000 protest on Saturday, said the protest would send a stern message to
Washington.
"We are looking forward to a major action in all large US cities where
immigrants make up a significant proportion of the workforce," he told AFP.
"We are asking people not to go to school, or work, or shopping and instead
to go out and protest against the racist and inhumane measures in this bill.
In addition to the "day without immigrants," MAPA and other grass roots
Latino groups are also organizing a massive protest in 20 major US cities on
April 10 in a bid to defeat the legislative reform proposal, Lopez said. The
cities targeted include Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Milwaukee, Atlanta,
San Francisco and Dallas, Lopez said.
