NAACP Chief Operating Officer to Speak at USC
Rev. Nelson B. Rivers III is Keynoter for "Project Uplift"
NAACP C.O.O. Rev. Nelson B. Rivers III will be the keynote speaker
at a University of Southern California NAACP College Branch fundraiser for
"Project Uplift" on April 19, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. in the USC upstairs
commons. The cost for the banquet is $35.00 and is tax deductible.
For more than 26 years, Rev. Rivers has worked at every level of
the NAACP. On his journey to his present position, Rev. Rivers has served
as a branch president, state conference executive director, regional
director and chief of field operations. He is credited with tripling NAACP
membership in South Carolina from 1984 to 1994. In 1994, the governor of
South Carolina presented him with the Order of the Palmetto, the highest
honor the state can bestow on one of her citizens. In 1999, he implemented
the most extensive leadership-training program in the history of the NAACP,
training over 10,000 leaders. He is a Golden Heritage Life Member of the
NAACP.
The event will honor Project Uplift high school participants and
includes a silent auctin of exclusive USC sports apparel, musical
entertainment, and a free IPOD Nano give away.
