Join our Locked-Out Workers at the Forum in Inglewood
Sunday, July 9th at 5:30 pm

After more than two years of negotiating for a new contract
agreement, stagehands at the L.A. Forum were locked out of their
jobs last April and prevented from working. Many of them had
years of service at the facility. The janitors had their
contracts terminated in February. Last year, the building
engineers were forced Monday, July 17th to walk away from the
venue after wages were slashed.

Join us as we walk the picket line with our brothers and sisters
at the Pearl Jam Concerts being held at the Forum in Inglewood
on Sunday, July 9th from 5:30 pm-8:00 pm.

We will be gathering at the Bourbon St. Fish Market located at
601 S. Prairie Ave in Inglewood. For other ways to help these
workers visit www.justiceattheforum.com/take_action.html .

Supermarket Workers Locked Out by Ralphs in 2003 to Receive
Record-Breaking Settlement From Grocer

Last week Ralphs Grocery Company admitted to their employees
that they had violated the law during the 2003-04 lock-out and
had reached a settlement with the U.S. Attorney. This
record-shattering settlement, which will be contingent on court
approval as well as the withdrawal of the union¿s case pending
before the National Labor Relations Board, will end the federal
government¿s case against the company for conspiracy, identity
fraud, money laundering, and obstruction of justice. Read

Immigrant Rights Leaders Participate in Civil Disobedience
Action in Show of Support for Hilton Hotel Workers

Immigrant rights activists, community members, clergy, and hotel
workers marched on Century Blvd. last week in support of
Glendale and LAX Hilton hotel workers who are fighting for
living wages and health care by organizing to form a union
(UNITE HERE Local 11). The action lead to several arrests for
civil disobedience.

Just last May, a group of about 75 LAX Hilton workers were
suspended after they tried to meet with management to discuss
the suspension of a co-worker who they felt had been wrongly
disciplined. The suspended workers alleged that the hotel
retaliated against them for engaging in a legally protected
worker activity.

Also in May, community and immigrant rights leaders held a press
conference condemning the alleged mistreatment of immigrant
workers at another Hilton hotel, the Glendale Hilton. The
National Labor Relations Board has filed a complaint against the
Glendale Hilton for alleged intimidation and harassment of
workers.
