Larry Smith (Lumbee Nation)
Host of American Indian Airwaves on KPFK
In 1863 the U.S. government signed the Treaty of Ruby Valley guaranteeing
the sovereignty of the Shoshone people over their homeland, Newe Segobia.
The U.S. never lived up to the treaty, and has conducted 900 tests of
nuclear weapons there, making much of Shoshone territory uninhabitable for
thousands of years. Plans for testing the largest conventional detonation
ever were recently postponed because of people's protests, but reports
indicate they will be rescheduled soon. The bomb test that they are doing
on Shoshone land is, according to the American Federation of Scientists,
preparation for a bomb attack on the people of Iran!
Mothers Day Protest at Nevada Test Site
Hwa Young Lee
Chairwoman, Korea Truth Commission - U.S.
At Pyeongtaek, S Korea, rice farmers are protesting against forcible
eviction from their land for U.S. military base expansion. The U.S.
military wants to make Pyeongtaek a key part of the so-called U.S. Missile
Defense System in East Asia.
Hear about the years of protest and the successful struggle at Maehang-ri
bombing range.
