"The Potluck for Progressives" is a group
organized for the purpose of bringing together
likeminded people on a monthly basis to break
bread and talk about crucial issues affecting the
community and the world.
At each meeting, people interested in peace,
social justice, labor, and the environment gather
to exchange ideas, talk about successes, plan
actions, or just engage in a friendly discussion
with one another.
Please join us! Bring a dish to share! Enjoy
the bounty that others bring as well! The potluck
will start at 6:30 P.M. with a speaker, film, and/or
discussion to follow.

Bring along your favorite dish
of food, chips, dips, or soft
drinks, and spend an hour mingling
with progressive people from all
over Orange County.

Shane Kadidal, Staff Attorney, Center
for Constitutional Rights (CCR).
For over 4 years, the National Security
Agency, with approval from the president,
has engaged in a program of widespread
warrantless electronic surveillance of
communications in violation of the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
On January 17, 2006, the CCR filed a
lawsuit against President Bush and
the head of the NSA, challenging the
surveillance of persons within the
U.S. without judicial approval or
statutory authorization. The suit
argues that the NSA Surveillance Program
violates a clear criminal law, exceeds
the presidents authority under Article
II of the Constitution and violates
the First and Fourth Amendments. Please
join us to learn more about CCR and its
case against the NSA.
Mr. Kadidal is a graduate of Yale
Law School and has been at the Center
for almost 5 years. He has worked on a
number of CCRs significant post-9/11
cases, including the Centers successful
Supreme Court challenge to the
detention of prisoners at Guantánamo,
Rasul v. Bush. He is the lead attorney
in CCRs NSA lawsuit.

and is free and open to the general public.
Although a small donation might be requested
to help pay for facility costs, nobody will
