#1 Video Night in Huntington Beach, Wednesday, Sept. 27th
      Fahrenheit 911

Where: 9081 Hyde Park Drive, Huntington Beach
What: Michael Moore's Film: Fahrenheit 9/11.
When: Wednesday, September 27th, 2006 7pm until 9pm.

The last Video Night of the year will be this Wednesday from
7pm until 9pm at 9081 Hyde Park Drive in Huntington Beach.
We will watch Fahrenheit 9/11.

Because our video nights are the last Thursday of each month
(except for this last one...I have a school function to attend on
Thursday evening) we do not hold video nights during Oct., Nov.,
or Dec., due to the holidays and a very low historical turnout.
This is be the last gathering until January.

This is an outdoor showing so dress warmly. We will have
refreshments...all you need bring is a few friends and the desire
to stop war and help bring about a peaceful society based on
freedom and justice for all living things. You might also bring
your favorite beach chair but we do have a few extra chairs.

Peace,

Featured Speaker:

  7:30 - 8:30 P.M.

Shane Kadidal, Staff Attorney, Center for Constitutional
   Rights (CCR).

For over 4 years, the National Security Agency, with
approval from the president, has engaged in a program
of widespread warrantless electronic surveillance of
communications in violation of the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Act. On January 17, 2006, the CCR filed a
lawsuit against President Bush and the head of the NSA,
challenging the surveillance of persons within the U.S.
without judicial approval or statutory authorization. The
suit argues that the NSA Surveillance Program violates a
clear criminal law, exceeds the president’s authority under
Article II of the Constitution and violates the First and
Fourth Amendments. Please join us to learn more about
CCR and its case against the NSA.

Mr. Kadidal is a graduate of Yale Law School and has
been at the Center for almost 5 years. He has worked
on a number of CCR’s significant post-9/11 cases,
including the Center’s successful Supreme Court challenge
to the detention of prisoners at Guantánamo, Rasul v.
Bush. He is the lead attorney in CCR’s NSA lawsuit.

Open Forum

   and other news of interest.

"The Potluck for Progressives" is sponsored by the
Unitarian Universalist Church in Anaheim and is free

We have decided to move our serving day and free
Market to Saturday, as opposed to Sunday. San
Clemente Food Not Bombs, will be serving in Max Berg
Park at 3pm every Saturday.

Some new projects within San Clemente Food Not
Bombs have been:

providing clothes, house supplies, appliances, and anything
else donated that would be of use to the lower income families
which we work with in our community.
Books Not Bombs. BNB collects and redistrubutes reading
material, preferably progressive and historical writings,
and offers them to the community at no cost. BNB looks to
collect, among others, childrens books to be distrubuted to
Las Palmas Elememtary School, located across from the
park which SCFNB serves at.

Finally, SCFNB has begun a small collection of youth working
to send items and love into the prison industrial complex.

#7 Every Sunday evening in Huntington Beach:

"Peace vigil every Sunday night at the foot of the
Huntington Beach Pier, 7-8 pm

It's hard for most people to imagine a world at peace.
We are a very small group of people who believe that
this is indeed possible and that peace will happen once
enough people believe that it can. So we stand at the
pier every Sunday night with a sign that says:
"Visualize World Peace. It's up to you".

We also believe in non-violence both physically
and in our thoughts. We will discuss peace and
non-violence with anyone who is rational and
smile quietly at those who aren't. We hold this vigil
in a spirit of dignity and respect for all as we try
to build bridges with those who don't share our
philosophy.

Please bring a candle or just help us hold up our
banner (no signs please; we have our banner!)
