Representative Dennis Kucinich to Speak in Whittier

The Whittier Area Peace and Justice Coalition will host
Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), speaking about his 10-Point
Plan for Withdrawal from Iraq, at 4 PM this Sunday, January 28, at
the St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 7056 Washington Avenue in
Whittier. Also participating in the program will be representatives
of LA-US Labor Against the War, Military Families Speak Out, Iraq
Veterans Against the War, and the ANSWER Coalition. A donation of $5
will be requested at the door, but no one will be turned away for
lack of funds.

In the November election, the American public clearly said they
were tired of this war. The mounting deaths and injuries of American
soldiers, our allies, and Iraqi civilians; as well as the spiraling
financial costs of the war while human needs such as healthcare,
housing and education are under funded, are no longer acceptable to
the majority of the American people.

Many peace groups and social welfare organizations have mounted
a campaign to keep Congress aware of this mandate from the people.
Mass mobilizations will take place across the country on January 27,
followed by the lobbying of Congress members in January and February,
both in Washington, DC and in their home districts. Lobbying messages
will demand the end to funding of the war, and the return of all
troops from Iraq. This effort will culminate in more mass
mobilizations on the weekend of March 16-18, marking the fourth
anniversary of the invasion of Iraq.
