"Ties On A Fence - Women In Downtown Los Angeles Speak Out" With Director Corina Gamma An estimated 80,000 in Los Angeles County are homeless, of which an average of 45% are women. This compelling documentary is a compendium of conversations and interviews with women who are currently residing in Downtown Los Angeles Skid Row. They tell their stories, struggles and experiences of poverty as they are trying to navigate through the various bureaucracies of government programs. Some of these conversations reveal that "homelessness" is more than just a physical situation, but it is a condition of poverty and becomes a state of mind. The film maker will join us in a discussion after the screening, which will include action strategies to address homelessness locally and its structural/root causes.
