Join pro-immigrant organizations Latino Movement USA, Hermandad Mexicana Nacional and many others, including the ANSWER Coalition, for a march and rally to demand full rights for all immigrants. In the wake of last year's massive immigrant rights upsurge, the U.S. government has been debating various legislative measures while, at the same time, launching vicious raids targeting undocumented workers. Now is the time show unequivocally our support for justice and equality for all. A strong and united movement for immigrant rights will bolster the overall struggle for civil rights and against racism. Come out in downtown LA on April 7 with your friends, family, coworkers, fellow students and everyone to show your support. Join the ANSWER contingent at the march! Legalization now! Stop the racist raids! Expedite naturalization! Access to higher education for all! April 7 Coalition members and supporters include: Councilmember Jose Huizar, United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA), Confederacion de Organizaciones Mexicanas, Latino Movement USA, Hermandad Mexicana Nacional, Alianza de Hondurenos de Los Angeles, ANSWER Coalition (Act Now To Stop War & End Racism), Casa Nicaragua, La Casa Del Mexicano, Federacion de Clubes Michoacanos en California, Central American round Table, National Lawyers Guild, Youth and Justice Coalition, People's CORE, United Students, National Council of Arab Americans, Youth & Student ANSWER, Justice for Filipino American Veterans, Filipino Workers Center, Frente Amplio Progresista-LA, ChicanoForums.com, Palisadians for Peace, The Immigrant Magazine, and other pro immigrant rights individuals and organizations. --------------------------------------------------- United Teachers Los Angeles Supports April 7 March Calls on All Members to Mobilize & Attend Dear UTLA members, On March 28, 2007, the UTLA House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to support The Immigrant March and Rally for Full Rights that is to take place on Saturday, April 7, at 12 noon on the corner of Broadway and Olympic. Recent raids by the Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE) have created a wave of fear and terror in the immigrant community. Suspected undocumented immigrant workers have been deported, while their children, who are citizens, are left at home alone. UTLA has always played a leading role in protecting the rights of immigrant students and their families and has consistently promoted tolerance and respect for the civil rights and the lives of all children. UTLA's opposition to Proposition 187 was a good example of this. Since Congress has yet to enact any meaningful immigration reform legislation, right wing, racist, extremist groups have become stronger and more visible in recent months. Therefore, I am urging you to attend this important march and rally so that undocumented immigrants can become citizens and not have to be criminalized for wanting a better life. Sincerely, A. J. Duffy UTLA President _Click here to read UTLA's headlines, including its April 7 announcement._ (http://www.utla.net/) ================================================================= National Immigrant Solidarity Network No Immigrant Bashing!
