>From the article: "More than 400 officers patrolled the rally site and places throughout the city, including Ribfest, being held at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place. Some 135 Michigan State troopers and 80 to 100 Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies, including a dozen or so on horseback, were on hand. Also assisting were Kalamazoo Township police and the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team. For the rally, an area on the Public Safety parking lot was designated for Turner's supporters and another for protesters; both were fenced to separate the sides from each other. About 50 people were in the area with Turner, police said. Capt. Joe Taylor, head of KVET, said 40 or so from Turner's group were brought by city bus from a remote location, escorted by state police. The agreement was that they would arrive and leave that way.
Police estimate 350 people attended the rally, which lasted from 1 to 2:22 p.m.; however, at least 250 of them remained outside the fenced-in area as Turner and others spoke. Turner called for the rally, he has said, in response to reports of alleged assaults on whites by black teenagers in Kalamazoo."
