This, from an Impeach Bush Yahoo! group. Please pass it on. I have removed names of individuals who wrote it. March in DC on September 15 will not be a picnic. If you are going, PLEASE take care of yourself. It will not be a parade or a picnic. But remember, STAY COOL. Hajja Romi US military unveils heat-ray gun
Hey this is real. And if the military is talking about it in the open, it means they already have them. I bet we see it at the Sept 15 march on Wash DC. It is a microwave oven on steroids. I bet it can be blocked or have it's power or effects reduced using those plastic/foil type survival blankets found in your auto emergency kits or at most sporting goods stores. And mirrors, those small 6 or 8 inch size convex type you can get to mount on your truck or bus. They will reflect the rays back at the cops, LOL!!! Make sure you wear mirror sunglasses to protect your eyes. Or even one of those high gloss plastic rain ponchos. To reflect back some of the rays from it thus lowering the heat factor. Defeating their weapons purpose as a non-lethal weapon. Yes, I am a real old Boy Scout from back in the day when they didn't share sleeping bags on camp outs, and we did actually scout for girls. It's just another use for radar technology as a weapon. We need to ensure we have hundreds of cameras focused on the cops and the guard troops that will be deployed for this march, they will be the one's with these new weapons. Closest to the capital. Also watch out for the undercover cops who will join in with you as you get closer to the capital, they will be the ones who start the violent confrontations with the other cops, and it will carry over on to the rest of us not involved with the violence. It will be foolish for anyone to dress in a tank-top, shorts and flip-flops for this too. Wear some good heavy duty jeans or pants, long sleeved shirt and hiking boots. Hey let's all wear khaki colored clothes. Cooler and will ensure "we" know who "we" are. Protest uniforms, LOL! This is not a walk in the park on a warm summer day either. Swim goggles may be nice to have, and a few of those disposable breathing masks would be handy, to counter the tear gas and pepper spray. You can't be concerned with making a fashion statement while protesting. A good cotton bush hat is good to keep the sun out of your eyes, and keep your head cooler too. I might even bring some of those pads that you see the skaters and boarders using, wear some roller blades move to fast for them, LOL!!! Yes, I teach Protesting 101 at the local college campus too. In the coffee shops, lol! HUMMM??? Called the Active Denial System, it projects an invisible high energy beam that produces a sudden burning feeling. Military officials, who say the gun is harmless, believe it could be used as a non-lethal way of making enemies surrender their weapons. Officials said there was wide-ranging military interest in the technology. How the heat-ray gun works > "This is a breakthrough technology that's going to give our forces a capability they don't now have," defence official Theodore Barna told Reuters news agency. "We expect the services to add it to their tool kit. And that could happen as early as 2010." 'Blast from an oven' The prototype weapon was demonstrated at the Moody Air Force Base in Georgia. A beam was fired from a large rectangular dish mounted on a Humvee vehicle. The beam has a reach of up to 500m (550 yds), much further than existing non-lethal weapons like rubber bullets. It can penetrate clothes, suddenly heating up the skin of anyone in its path to 50C. But it penetrates the skin only to a tiny depth - enough to cause discomfort but no lasting harm, according to the military. A Reuters journalist who volunteered to be shot with the beam described the sensation as similar to a blast from a very hot oven - too painful to bear without diving for cover. Crowd control Military officials said > the weapon was one of the key technologies of the future. "Non-lethal weapons are important for the escalation of force, especially in the environments our forces are operating in," said Marine Col Kirk Hymes, director of the development programme. The weapon could potentially be used for dispersing hostile crowds in conflict zones such as Iraq or Afghanistan. It would mean that troops could take effective steps to move people along without resorting to measures such as rubber bullets - bridging the gap between "shouting and shooting", Col Hymes said. A similar "non-lethal" weapon, Silent Guardian, is being developed by US company Raytheon. This burning sensation is very painful but won't cause actual damage unless the subject stays in the beam for as long as 250 seconds. It is hoped it will provide a less lethal way of clearing the streets of (live) Iraqi civilians. > Or that's the theory. Testing has been carried out by the US Airforce Lab, which also develops the weapon, which is a "clear conflict", according to Louis Slesin, editor of Microwave News. There is concern that the beam could damage eyesight - although probably not as much as an M-16 rifle can. > The barrier to using such technology on a vehicle has been a strong enough power source. Researchers claim to have solved this problem, and 15 vehicles have been ordered under Project Sheriff. > The "Vehicle-Mounted Active Denial System", or V-MADS, looks like an ordinary Humvee but with an enormous, square satellite dish on its roof. Only this time it's not Sky One that'll be frying your brain.
