As we have seen from the kidnapping, incarceration and torture of people all
over the world, the protections afforded by the Constitution mean NOTHING to
the Bush Regime.
Nonetheless, there are a few Americans who are trying to stop the rush
towards a fascist dictatorship in this country.
If you live in America, I hope you will answer Senator Leahy's plea and
contact your senator tomorrow to insist that the rights of habeus corpus--the
most ancient and basic right we have--be protected.

Yesterday, we wrote to you about our Habeas Corpus Restoration Act which is
currently being debated on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Thanks so much to the

Unfortunately, a number of Republican Senators are once again trying to block
our efforts by threatening to filibuster our amendment.
There's going to be a vote on the bill that could come as soon as Wednesday
