The Jena 6 are six young Black high school students falsely charged with attempted murder for taking a stand against racism in the mostly white small town of Jena, Louisiana. Mychal Bell, now seventeen, was convicted by an all white jury, before a white judge, with a court appointed attorney who called no witnesses in his defense. He has been in jail since December 2006 because his family couldn't afford the $90,000 excessive bond. His conviction was thrown out last week because he was improperly tried as an adult - he is still in jail! The five other youth are still facing from 15-to-100-year sentences. On Thursday, Sept. 20 - the day Mychal was scheduled for sentencing - a massive march supporting Mychal Bell and the other Black students is converging in Jena. Let's stop the war on Black youth and other youth of color.
