ELIZABETH KUCINICH, COMMUNITY FOLKS AND
ANTI-WAR ACTIVISTS VIGIL IN FIRST IRAQ MORATORIUM
Anti-war protesters, marking the first "IRAQ MORATORIUM Friday"
at the corner of Fairfax and West 3rd this afternoon were motivated and
enthused by a constant barrage of "honking" motorists, friendly pedestrians
willing to take the Moratorium leaflet and a lenghty visit by Elizabeth
Kucinich,
wife of the presidential candidate.
Elizabeth Kucinich chatted with activists and held the large IRAQ
MORATORIUM banner for a portion of the event.
A delegation of volunteers from the Office of the Americas [OOA], whose
office is nearby, augmented the two dozen protesters who drew largely positive
responses from onlookers.
The IRAQ MORATORIUM, modeled after the highly successful VietNam
Moratorium which mobilized widespread community involvement during that
period, publicized hundreds of events across the country on this "first Friday"
of the initiative. IRAQ MORATORIUM will take place on the third Friday of
every month.
