I have just replaced the leaflet about depleted uranium, suitable for Christmas. I had uploaded it to the Files several days ago, but I really thought it was rather drab. Aha! I finally figured out what to do about that, and the revised leaflet looks MUCH better, IMHO.
I hope someone in this group will download it, print out a few copies, and pass them out. Thanks to our spineless Mainstream Media, who follow the directives coming out of the Pentagon as well as the German media ever did under Goebbels, people in this country know nothing about DEPLETED URANIUM or Uranium Weapons, unless they have served in the military in the Middle East. Depleted uranium has a radioactive half-life of 4.5 billion years. The US and its NATO and Israeli allies have used it and or other uranium weapons in the Balkans, Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon. It is a WAR CRIME to do so. Contrary to Pentagon DISinformation, depleted uranium is NOT any less dangerous than other forms of uranium. The term "depleted" does not refer to its radioactivity, but to the fact that it is made from natural uranium. The kind of uranium (isotope) which can be used in nuclear power plants comprises less than 1% of natural uranium. When that isotope is taken out, what is left is DEPLETED of that isotope, hence the name. It is still radioactive. Because uranium is the densest naturally-occuring element, the military considers it ideal for weapons (bullets and missiles), which can penetrate anything made of other elements, including armor, tanks and the like. Conversely, armor made of DU resists penetration by weapons made of other elements. Thus, the armor on Bradley fighting vehicles, Abrams tanks and other military equipment is made of DU. Soldiers who work with these weapons and equipment are thus exposed to depleted uranium. DU is believed to be the cause of Gulf War illness, and is responsible for the high rate of birth defects among the children of returning Gulf War vets (67%). It is also responsible for cancers, and other illnesses. Depleted uranium (DU) causes can be recognized by the brilliant white flashes in footage of military actions during the Gulf War. When a weapons made of DU strikes its tarpet, it explodes with this bright light, and vaporizes into dust particles and gaseous uranium oxide, which are lofted by the winds into the Earth's atmosphere. During the Gulf War, the radiation monitors at Aldermaston, England, near a nuclear power plant there, recorded a spike in atmospheric radioactivity, due to the use of DU in Iraq. Leuren MOret, an international expert on DU, attributes the global epidemic of diabetes to increases in radioactivity caused by DU.
