LA DRUMCORE
L.A/So Cal's new radical Marching band announces our
First practice, brainstorm
Sunday July 13th, 2008
Macarthur Park
2p.m - 4/5p.m
Social change activist ?
Bored and frustrated by the usual protests, shows etc ?
Flumoxed and bemused that there is no rad marching band in L.A??
Come join us and help make it happen !
Musical style is Samba Batucada fused with blistering twists of
Punk/Hardcore, Ska, Funk , Hip Hop and more !
If you can, PLEASE bring:
+ Your OWN instrument/s......and again PLEASE no
djembes(African/Hippie drums) or congas..
we're doing Samba/Marching based music..not a drum circle :>)
+ PLENTY OF WATER and a hat - heatstroke is no fun... ! We will be
getting sweaty !
+ Vegan/veggie food to share for a potluck if you can, or bring
snacks food for yourself.
+Musicians or high frequency earplugs - you WILL need them !
If you do not have a marching drum please either go to:
www.myspace.com/ladrumcore for details of how to build a marching
drums/beaters.
or
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
+ If you don't have a drum PLEASE COME ANYWAY
as we will be talking about what we all want from the band, AND
sharing instruments/trying different instruments will be encouraged.
Or just bring a pot or pan and a stick, bucket and sticks, anything
to bang out a tune !!
Brass/horn players, dancers, puppetistas PLEASE come too !! You are
just as important as the drummers :>)
Let's make this happen !
And bring some groove and creativity to L.A/So Cal's protests,
benefits.............
PLEASE FORWARD this message to anyone you think may be interested.
Help make this happen.
Contact the above email / myspace for more details.
Thank You all
Linda for LA DRUMCORE
