SpecialGuest in Los Angeles

This Sunday, Brave New Foundation will be hosting a reception in honor of
Cristina Lara, the first winner of the Brave Nation Young Activist award.
Cristina was selected out of 350 other young activists as this year's
recipient and will receive her award at the reception. In addition, Brave
New Foundation president, Robert Greenwald will be featured in conversation
with activist and author Tom Hayden. Join us as we celebrate the beginning
of a young activist's career while hearing words of wisdom from those who
have been entrenched in social movements since the 1960s.

> P.P.S. Here's more about Cristina:
>
> High school student Cristina Lara started her own organization, Society
of Young Leading Women (which is currently awaiting non-profit status) and
she also founded an underground newspaper in her high school called
Uncensored. The Uncensored staff is composed of 10 student writers with
Cristina as the editor-in-chief. They write articles focused on issues with
their administration. In addition to her underground newspaper, Cristina
writes for her local newspaper.
>
> Cristina also joined the Fair Lawn High School's football team. She
lifted weights with the rest of her all-male players, while having to
endure the stares and criticism. While her coaches tried to undermine her
abilities, Cristina made it clear that she is tough by showing up to every
practice, and every game.
>
> Cristina is currently interning at the Third Wave Foundation and has
previously interned with the Obama Campaign and the United States Congress.
>
> She's a feminist; a football player; a writer; and a straight-A student.
What more can you ask for?
