Proposition 6, on November's ballot, will increase sentences and create 
new crimes, targeting young people of color. But under the proposition's 
provisions, we'll all be sentenced, for life. *Prop. 6 /mandates/ 
spending $1 billion the first year and at least half-billion dollars 
each and every year after that*.

Social services---hospitals, schools, parks---are already being cut to 
the bone as California faces a budget deficit and a weakened economy. If 
Prop. 6 passes, we won't have the flexibility to reallocate funds to 
these services regardless of the need; *we'll be locked into spending 
our money to **expand prisons and law enforcement*.
