Revolucanto! is a celebration of our community's struggle for better conditions
inside of our homes and in our neighborhood. Our Tenants' Union and our
campaign for Pedestrian Safety have fought against the forces of
gentrification. These include illegal evictions by landlords who want to rent
to a new class of people, harassment of tenants, and illegal raising of rent.
Also, many cars speed through Boyle Heights as a thoroughfare to all the
redevelopment in the area and near by downtown. Our campaign for speed bumps,
traffic signals, and stop signs, as well as lighting in over 40 alleys fights
to create Boyle Heights into a Pedestrian Safe Zone to maintain the pedestrian
character of the neighborhood.
Come to celebrate the power our community has built through organization and
action. This event will integrate the rich music and arts of Boyle Heights with
its political struggles.
Tickets: $4 before the event $6 at the door. You can buy online at
www.uniondevecinos.net. Contact Jenny Garcia (323) 908-3454 for more
information.
