Así como alguien me ayudó desinteresadamente cuando yo era indocumentado,
en esta ocasión también a mi me toca hacer lo mismo para poder cambiar la
vida de nuestros semejantes
How did you get involved with the cause of the immigrants?
J.CA: The reason I got involved in this noble cause of our immigrants
fellow is because I am also an immigrant. I was someone who entered this
country of opportunities by crossing illegally the border, like millions of
people who do the same daily.
Just like them, I joined the labor system which meant doing the jobs
that other people did not want to do (labor work). Like many of them, I was
undocumented for many years and thanks to the Amnesty in the 80s, I got the
privilege to become legally recognized.
At that time when I was undocumented, somebody was kind enough to help
me. Since someone helped to me, I felt I should help others. It makes me
pleased and happy to be able to change the lives of my fellows. So far, I
have had the proud of being an immigrant and still being able to remain my
roots doing something that I will continue until God decides.
