General T.A.C.O. (Taking All Capitalists Out), a/k/a Wolverine Shakur, who was snatched up by the LAPD and parole officers just before the Oscar Grant verdict came down, has been released. But he's still on parole, still shackled around his ankle with a 21st Century slave shackle (GPS monitoring device), and still subject to being abducted at gunpoint again at any time. The parole supervisor over-ruled the p.o.'s who violated TACO's parole and tried to send him back to state prison, on the grounds that their charges -- basically having Black Rider literature and friends -- were unconstitutional. He acknowledged that TACO himself had never gone to the Oscar Grant trial (the original PO had told TACO he was getting sent up for having sent the Black Riders to the trial). He warned TACO, however, that he could get violated again at any point. The Riders need material aid to help ensure TACO's freedom and safety. The fact that being around anyone who is on the law enforcement "gang database" (directed at Black, Brown and Asian youth indiscriminately) could send TACO to state prison is a further indication of how the political and police repression directed against the Black Riders Liberation Party is rooted in and reinforces the broader oppression and exploitation of the Black community as a whole. PS Aryana of BRLP will be speaking at an event on police abuse, migrant rights and political repression on Aug 19; on Aug 21, Oregon jericho, BRLP, ARA-LA and ABCF are sponsoring a George Jackson Day event at Southern CA Library from 3:30-9:30 PM.
