Venezuela's Hugo Chavez says he is "reviewing war plans" with Colombia *Momento24: *The President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, said today that he is "reviewing plans of war with Colombia, because his colleague, Alvaro Uribe, is capable of anything before leaving the government on August 7." In a telephone call to the television station VTV he said that "three nights ago, I said to the vice president (Elias Jaua): 'It is really sad, I confess it, its sad to be reviewing war plans'" *The statement comes eight days after having decided to formally break diplomatic relations with Colombia. Chavez added that "Uribe should consult a psychiatrist because hes shamelessness, sick with hatred."* "We have deployed air defense units, infantry, special operations at points of more than 2,200 kilometers of common border to contain an eventual military aggression ordered by Uribe" "we remain in silence, because we want to avoid it." The Venezuelan President did *not* discard that "Colombian guerrilla forces have entered their country." But he said that "there was no evidence found about the existence of guerrilla camps." *Chavez also said that "his colleague from Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, will visit him in Caracas a day before the inauguration of Juan Manuel Santos as the successor of Uribe, and then he will talk about the urgent need to assume peace policies in Colombia and the neighbor countries."* *"But that will be done with Santos and not with this man full of hate that has a violent culture" "I hope that Santos does not come with Uribes policy."* http://momento24.com/en/2010/07/31/venezuela -hugo-chavez-said-he-was-reviewing-war-plans-with-colombia/ Published: Sunday, August 01, 2010 Bylined to: Inside Costa Rica <[email protected]> Venezuelan President Chavez: More foreign military flights near Venezuela *Inside Costa Rica:* Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said foreign military flights near Venezuela have increased in recent days, forcing troops to stay on alert. Aircraft operations at high and low altitudes rose by 100% in areas bordering Colombia and the Caribbean (Curacao and Aruba), where the United States has military bases deploying reconnaissance and combat aircraft, he said. - "Those are signs of increased operations; those are threats we can not underestimate," Chavez said in a telephone interview with Venezolana de Television. *Chavez also denounced the violation of Venezuelan airspace by a Colombian helicopter, an incident that lasted about five minutes.* On the other hand, he announced the visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and the secretary of UNASUR, Nestor Kirchner, to enhance regional integration. Both politicians could also contribute to overcoming the crisis with Colombia, heightened by Colombia's accusations of Venezuela harboring FARC guerrilla camps. *"Although we do not need mediation to sit down and talk as neighbors, if it is necessary for Kirchner and Lula to move forward with us to peace in Colombia, we are willing to accept it," Chavez said.* *The Venezuelan President reaffirmed Venezuela's desire to contribute to South American unity and peaceful coexistence, regardless of states' political positions.* http://www.insidecostarica.com/dailynews/ 2010/august/01/latinamerica10080104.htm [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- LAAMN: Los Angeles Alternative Media Network --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unsubscribe: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subscribe: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Digest: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Help: <mailto:[email protected]?subject=laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post: <mailto:[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive1: <http://www.egroups.com/messages/laamn> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Archive2: <http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]> --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yahoo!
