PLEASE FORWARD TO ALL YOUR CONTACTS. --- On Thu, 9/2/10, Gordon Sturrock <[email protected]> wrote: Dear supporter of Justice,
Something big is about to happen in our Pacific Northwest region. Former U.S. Marines Ken O'Keefe who was on the Mavi Marmarma Gaza Relief ship that was brutally attacked on May 31, 2010 by Israeli Defense Forces will be touring our Pacific Northwest over a 17 day period starting September 18th. He'll be speaking about his first hand experience during that awful attack in which 9 other peace activists were murdered. Amazingly Ken actually disarmed 3 of the Israeli soldiers in self defense, held them captive ***unharmed*** for a short while before being overwhelmed by other soldiers. He was subsequently beaten and somehow managed to live to tell the tale. The purpose of his trip is to raise money for yet another Gaza relief flotilla planned for 2011, and also to spread the word about the severe human rights violations being perpetrated against Palestinian civilians who are under an illegal siege. We are seeking funds to cover fuel and expenses for this multi-state tour which will cover Oregon, Washington and possibly even into California. Our entourage could just take one or two cars to save a little money and will if we have to, but taking our 35 foot long anti-war veteran's bus as you might guess provides a significant psychological impact for all who come in contact with us. The bus loudly speaks that this is a military veteran action, which in fact it is. Three vets are key organizers this tour, Ken himself who is a former Marines who served in the first Gulf War, Tim King of Salem News who is also a former Marines, and myself a former Military Police. Many of our stops will be supported and organized by military veterans as well. We would all be most grateful if you would consider helping us with whatever financial support you are able towards our trip expenses. If you wish to donate to the Ken's flotilla 2011 fund itself, you may do that too after our fund raising tour starts on September 18. We also still have some time slots available for speaking events if you or somebody you know wants to organize a speaking event for Ken in your area, send any such requests to me at [email protected] Here is a publicity link with more info, check it out, it's a pretty amazing story. Please contribute comments there if you have time. http://salem-news.com/articles/august112010/ken-okeefe-gs.php We already have a slew of events lined up in Seattle, Olympia, Vancouver, Portland, Hood River, Corvallis, Eugene, Grants Pass, and Newport, with more additions expected.
